SR Production Services, one of South Wales’ leading production companies, and the Hush Collective, an organisation dedicated to pushing the silent disco scene forward to new heights, joined forces over the weekend of the 1st of June 2019 to bedazzle disco lovers with a display of light and “silence” at Cardiff’s Techniquest Science Museum.
Utilising the power of the new Avolites T1, the LX team at SR were able to quickly patch and program Chauvet’s R1 beams to perfectly align with front of house mirror balls to create beautiful sparkle across the large museum exhibition hall.
SR’s project manager for the event, Alistair Brick, opted to use the new T1 to maximise efficiency and simplify programming a smaller rig for a fast turn-around show.
“This particular event came with a set of challenges that made using the T1 the optimal solution for us- the venue needed us in and out as quickly as possible in order to be open to the public, and the event was spread across three levels of the exhibition hall without a great deal in the way of access. For this reason we wanted to keep our flight case count as low as possible and avoid carrying larger format consoles up several flights of stairs when we are short on time. The pocket-sized format of the T1 was perfect for this scenario and allowed us to retain using our favourite console brand for the night.”
Sam Parry, the programmer and operator of the event, was pleased to be able to use the T1 to create precise looks for the night. “Having the power of Titan in the palm of my hand really sets my mind at ease when programming a fast turn-around event. Being able to dive straight into the interface I’m familiar with and program as exactly as I would on large shows makes life quick and easy. Creating the looks required for a Hush event entails fast programming and precise positioning, two performance features which Titan excels at.”
SR plan on using the T1 regularly on future events, both as a main console for smaller events and as a backup for their fleet of Titan Mobiles and Sapphire Touch consoles.
